Naming an Eternity Gift Package (Fund)

There are four types of funds to choose from when a benefactor names a gift through the Community Foundation of Halton North (CFHN). A fund may be named in honour of the donor, their family, or in memory of a special person. The entry level contribution for choosing the type and naming funds are:

Smart and Caring Community Type of Fund;

This type of fund is made up of large and small donations from a variety of sources such as individuals, Corporations and other foundations. Donations to this type of fund provides CFHN with the ability to disburse grants based on the changing, future needs of community charities. Donors may choose and name this type of fund with a minimum gift of $5,000.

Field of Interest Type of Fund;

Similar to the Smart and Caring Community Fund above, this type of fund allows the benefactor to stipulate his or her areas of interest, such as the arts, mental health, children, relief of poverty, education, etc., and empowers CFHN to select worthwhile projects to support within that specified field of interest. Donors may choose and name this type of fund with a minimum gift of $10,000.

Donor Advised Type of Fund;

Some benefactors wish to play an ongoing roll in the selection of charities that will benefit from their gift. Donors can choose this type of fund instead of creating a family trust or private foundation. Existing foundations are able to transfer their assets to CFHN in order to achieve higher returns or reduce administrative costs while still remaining involved in the allocation of grants. Donors may choose and name this type of fund with a minimum gift of $25,000.

Designated Type of Fund;

By establishing a designated type fund, donors are able to specify a particular charity or a group of charities they wish to support in perpetuity. Donors may choose and name this type of fund with a minimum gift of $10,000. Operating Endowment/Administrative Type of Fund; Some individuals are interested in directly supporting the Community Foundation of Halton North. This type of fund helps CFHN meet its operating costs. Donors may choose and name this type of fund with a minimum gift of $3,000.
