2026 Milton Walk of Fame Inductee

With her appointment as Minister of Natural Resources in the government of Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper in 2008, the Honourable Lisa Raitt became just the third parliamentarian to represent Milton in its then 151-year history in a provincial or federal Cabinet. The others were the Honourable Otto Jelinek (federal) and the Honourable James Snow (provincial). Ms. Raitt, who served as Member of Parliament for Milton (Halton) between 2008 and 2019 also served in Cabinet as Minister of Labour and, later, Minister of Transport. Following the defeat of the Harper government in 2015, Ms. Raitt contested the Conservative Party of Canada leadership in 2017, losing to Andrew Scheer, who named her deputy party leader and deputy opposition leader, a role she would hold until she was defeated in the 2019 election. Ms. Raitt was appointed vice chair of global investment banking at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) after leaving federal politics. She also serves as a regular political commentator on national television with CTV’s Power Play, CTV’s Question Period and CBC’s Power and Politics and on regional radio as a member of Zoomer Radio AM740’s Recovering Politian’s Panel.
