Sixteen grants, five performances and one guest speaker caught in Washington DC
On Thursday, June 23 the Community Foundation of Halton North (CFHN) hosted Showcase 2022. Showcase is a demonstration and celebration of the talented and hard-working charities that are helped to prosper due to generous contributions from legacy donors of the Community Foundation of Halton North.
The evening began with demonstrations, or as CFHN Marketing Chair Darryl Demille coined, “grants in action”. These five previous grant recipients demonstrated some of their program offerings in a lively and entertaining way. Our grants in action included a steel pan band from the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton; a presentation on Project Search by Community Living North Halton, a singer/guitarist from the Halton Learning Foundation’s Students in the Spotlight, a reading from the Halton Hills Public library and a string trio from the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra. All were awarded a grant for their performances.
In attendance were several elected officials from both Halton Hills and Milton. Showcase 2022 culminated in the announcement of CFHN’s 2022 grant recipients. In addition to those mentioned above, grantees included:

Guest speaker Lisa Raitt unfortunately got caught in Washington DC due to several flight cancellations and delays but her commitment to Showcase 2022 never wavered and she used “Zoom” to address the crowd gathered at the Milton Banquet and Conference Centre. Lisa spoke about her involvement with You Quest, her commitment to The Community Foundation of Halton North as a Board member and a champion of the Community Foundation movement across Canada. She personally spoke about her experience with Alzheimer’s as her husband Bruce is living with early onset Alzheimer’s
“The Community Foundation of Halton North’s vision is to grant back into the communities which make up North Halton and I am thrilled that the Foundation is now in its eighth year of fulfilling its mission,” stated Brad Clements, Chair of CFHN.
“We are pleased to announce the 2022 grant recipients and congratulate them for their tremendous work in our north Halton communities,” said Joy Anderson, Chair of the Grants Committee. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our fund holders and donors for their contributions to make this possible. “
