What is the Investment Readiness Program (IRP)
The Investment Readiness Program (IRP) is a new national initiative funded by the Government of Canada. The Investment Readiness Program will provide time-limited non repayable capital to support a broad range of social purpose organizations (for example, non-profits, charities, co-operatives, hybrid social enterprises, and mission-focused for-profits) in improving their capacity and ability to participate in the social finance market, access new investment and contract opportunities and support them throughout the innovation. The application period for the first round runs from January 8th 2020 to February 10th 2020.
Investment Readiness Program and Community Foundations
Over the next month, the Brant | Halton | Peel consortium (made up of six Community Foundations, Sheridan College and EDGE) are responsible for distributing over $1 million locally to these social purpose organizations. We are holding three in-person and one web-based information session on the Investment Readiness Program. These sessions will help social purpose organizations understand the IRP, and how to potentially access between $10,000 – $100,000 for ideation scaling to take advantage (or be investment ready) of the federal social finance fund.
